ONPE formed thirteen ODPE Complementary Municipal Elections 2011

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) under thirteen (13) Decentralized Office of Electoral Processes (ODPE) for the organization and implementation of complementary municipal elections next July 3, 2011, when they will elect mayors and councilmen in 34 districts.

To this effect, has authorized the ODPE of Huaraz, Huari, Cajamarca, Huancavelica, Huanuco, Sánchez Carrión, Chicago 2, Huaura, Lima East-Santa Anita, Cañete, San Román, Moyobamba and Coronel Portillo, formed for General Elections and the Andean Parliament, to develop activities required under the Supplemental Municipal Elections.

The number of decentralized offices was proposed by the General Office of Planning and Budget ONPE, in order to ensure a quicker deployment and redeployment of election materials, taking into account the criteria of spatial continuity, contiguity, neighborhood and accessibility.

Under Article 39 of the Elections Act for the head of the ONPE define the number, location and organization of ODPE, according to the electoral districts established by law.

Under article 27 of the Organic Law of the ONPE, the ODPE are responsible for directing, coordinating, organizing and implementing electoral activities in their respective jurisdictions.
